If your student is looking for a good book to read this summer, consider the following:
We are pleased to announce our 2017 Summer School schedule! Summer school will be offered at Edison North and Edison South, July 31 - August 11 from 8:30am-11:30 am Monday through Friday. Teachers will be focusing on math and reading skills and will plan their lessons according to the needs of the students who enroll.
If you would like to have your child attend summer school, please contact the front office at 752-0123. When registering, be sure to let the front office know if your students are new to the school. Registration is due by Wednesday, May 31st to allow time for us to get instructors scheduled. The cost will be $75. Please be aware that students are required to adhere to the school dress-code during summer school. If you have any questions please refer to your registration packet or the parent handbook located on the school website thomased.org. Closed toed shoes are required. Benefits for new students We are excited to have your student attend Thomas Edison Charter School next year. I’m sure that you will be very pleased with the choice that you have made in attending our magnificent school. As with any change in a child’s education, there is always a bit of transition time for the child to feel comfortable with a new curriculum and a new environment. We would like to help lessen that transition by offering summer school for students new to our program. Summer school will expose your students to our Spalding (language arts) program as well as the math concepts (that are taught at a grade level above). Teachers will also cover many other curriculum areas to enable a smooth and enjoyable beginning. Benefits for returning students Summer school provides an excellent opportunity for students to review essential concepts and brush up on skills over the summer break. Teachers will also consider students who would greatly benefit from the extra instruction and practice available during summer school. Even if your children excel, summer school is a great opportunity to keep them “sharp” and ready for next year. Tutoring We are also offering a list of teachers and aides that have a desire to tutor over the summer. If you would like your child to have individualized or small group tutoring, please contact the office. We look forward to sharing more knowledge with your children this summer! Our Thomas Edison Charter School National History Day delegates need help raising funds to travel to Washington D.C. The office is selling Little Caesars punch cards ($10 for 10 punches) good for a Crazy Combo (1 punch) with the purchase of a pizza. Please bring exact change. Thank you!
May 24th & 25th 5:00-8:00 pm TECS teachers will be hanging out at the Hyrum McDonalds. Some will be working behind the counter, some will be mingling, and others will be selling cookies (bring cash!). Proceeds will help our students who are competing in the National History Fair in Washington, D.C. Thanks for your support!

Tuesday, May 23rd @ 3:00 In the Morning Greeting Gym It's not too late to purchase a yearbook ($25) but quantities are limited. When it comes to reading (especially in the summertime) finding a GOOD book can often be the hardest part of the process. The Today Show has posted an article in which they list 30 book titles that they claim are the best ones from the last 100 years. The list contains several of my own favorites, so I thought it was worth sharing. Did any of your favorites make their top 30? Check it out!
Happy summer reading! Stock up for summer reading! It's the final book fair of the school year.

Someone was sneaky and even surprised me with sweet notes from the students in our class. They were plastered all over the wall by my desk when I got back from the field trip today. It definitely made me smile. I had to take them home so I could share them with my family. :)
And to the wonderful * someone * who left a surprise on my desk while I was at the field trip today, you are so thoughtful. If I knew who you were, I would thank you directly! I love what you left for me. I really do have the best job in the whole world. Thank you for letting me be a part of your children's lives. <3
