Have a great summer, everyone!
Stay in touch. You know where to find me.
Thanks for joining us at yesterday's graduation. I wish I had pictures to share, but I don't. I do, however, have some artwork from one of our kindergarten friends. This pretty much sums it up. Bye, kindergarten! Have a great summer, everyone! Stay in touch. You know where to find me. We had ice cream, balloons, water games, and crazy hair at Thursday's party. So fun! (Photo releases were signed at the beginning of the year in order for student photos to be published on our blog.) Thursday was Crazy Hair Day & our end-of-year party. We had a blast! (Photo releases were signed at the beginning of the year in order for student photos to be published on our blog.) We had a blast on Friday. Thank you, parents, for helping us make this a successful event! (Photo releases were signed at the beginning of the year in order for student photos to be published on our blog.) Students will be bringing home a summer packet tomorrow. It's full of ideas and resources for helping your student keep their skills sharp once school is out.
There are also a ton of resources online. One website I was recently introduced to is education.com. They offer free worksheets and printables (like the ones below). Interested? Dear Parents,
We are pleased to announce our 2018 Summer School schedule! Summer school will be offered concurrently at both Edison North and Edison South July 30 - August 10 from 8:30 am-11:30 am, Monday through Friday. Teachers will be focusing on math and reading skills and will plan their lessons according to the needs of the students who enroll. Summer school provides an excellent opportunity for students to review essential concepts and brush up on skills over the summer break. Teachers will also consider students who would greatly benefit from the extra instruction and practice available during summer school. They will be contacting parents soon to make personal invitations. If you receive a teacher phone call or email regarding summer school, please seriously consider enrolling your students as this will enhance their educational experience. Even if your children excel, summer school is a great opportunity to keep them “sharp” and ready for next year. The cost for summer school will be $75.00 per student. This works out to about $2.50 per hour, which is less than daycare and much less than many of the summer school programs offered around the valley. Students are expected to follow the school dress code during summer classes. Closed toed shoes are required for your child’s safety. Please see the parent handbook at thomased.org if you have questions. If you would like to have your child attend summer school, please call the campus you would like them to attend and register by Friday, May 4th to assure we have instructors in place before the end of the school year. Please give the secretary academic information about your child’s summer school needs. Payment is due May 18th. Class size is limited so don’t wait to register! TutoringWe are also offering a list of teachers and aides that have a desire to tutor. If you would like your child to have individualized or small group tutoring, please email me at [email protected] or ask the front office and we will send you a list of possible tutors along with their specialty and rate of pay. Online resources like IXL or Khan Academy are also great ways for students to get math and grammar practice in over the summer. Some programs are free. The combined math and language arts membership for IXL is $15.95 per month. Students can try a few problems each day on IXL for free or can use their school account (grades 4 and above). We look forward to sharing more knowledge with your children this summer! A message from the P.O. Board
The Parent Organization board is again offering school supply kits for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. If you would like us to take care of your school supply shopping, please fill out the order form here and return it to the blue PO cubbies no later than Friday, June 22nd by 3:00 pm. You may also order online at our school store https://squareup.com/store/TECS-POBoard. You may view the Classroom Supply List for 2018/2019 here. We will purchase all items, except those with an asterisk next to them. Kit prices are listed on the order form. Your school kits will be available to you on Back to School Night in August. If you are unable to attend that night your kit(s) will be waiting for your elementary students in their classrooms and for middle school students in their homeroom classes on the first day of school, August 22nd. Field Day is coming up on Friday, May 18th. We have 8 fun stations for the students to rotate to. We're looking for lots of help to make this a success. Thank you!
Parents, these assessments will be hosted by appointment on May 21, 22, and 23. Each family will select a 30-minute time slot. Please let me know if you have any questions.
