COVID-19 FAQ
Yellow phase
Yellow phase
What will the school schedule be like?
- Our campus will run a full school day, five days a week.
- Kindergarten hours will be the normal half-day for AM & PM
Will there be temperature checking on campus?
- Yes. Everyone's temperature will be checked daily as they enter the school.
- Temperature checks will begin at all entrances at 7:45.
- At 8:09, all doors will be locked (with the exception of the main entrance). Temperature checks will continue at the front office for the remainder of the day.
Should I take my student's temperature before we leave the house?
- If possible, yes. This will help prevent the spread of illness. It will also help parents avoid the need to come back to school to pick up a student who has a fever.
Are face masks required?
- Yes. Governor Herbert has mandated that everyone who enters a school building will be required to wear a mask.
- Students should come to school with two masks every day: 1) One to wear 2) A spare mask to keep in their backpack (in a Ziploc bag)
- The state has recommended that where possible, families write their student's name or initials on their mask.
- Masks should fit properly (covering the nose and mouth and fitting securely around the face).
- Students will wear masks in the classroom, hallways, bathroom, at specials classes (Art, Music, Library, etc), and at recess.
- In PE, masks will be removed when it is safe to do so -- when social distancing is possible and individual equipment can be used. PE teachers will be conscientious of activities that raise the heart rate and increase breathing, making it uncomfortable or dangerous for students to wear masks.
- Face masks do not need to adhere to our school's dress code. Solid colors and/or prints are acceptable. However, if a student's face mask design becomes a distraction, parents may be asked to provide a different mask.

Avoid masks that could potentially cause a distraction
Can my student wear a face shield instead of a mask?
Are visitors allowed on campus?
Will students be social distancing?
Should I send hand sanitizer?
What about drinking fountains?
2. Please fill the bottle with water only (as opposed to milk, juice, sports drinks, etc). Water spills are so much easier to clean up; anything else leaves a sticky residue (and a much bigger mess to clean up) when it spills.
3. Consider having your student carry their water bottle (rather than putting it inside their backpack). In the past, water bottles in backpacks have spilled -- ruining homework, library books, etc.
4. If students forget their water bottle at home, a parent will need to bring a water bottle for them.
5. If any parents want to donate back-up disposable water bottles to our classroom, we can use those in emergencies (when students forget a bottle at home). If you're interested in donating, please purchase the tiny 8-oz bottles. They are the perfect size for kindergarteners.
- Governor Herbert issued an executive order on August 14, 2020 which stated that students are required to wear masks.
- He also stated that students may not wear a face shield in place of a mask. However, if they want to wear a face shield over their mask, they may do so.
- Teachers will be wearing face shields during certain times of the day -- when they teach phonograms, etc -- so that students can see how the teacher forms the sounds with their mouth.
Are visitors allowed on campus?
- Yes. They will need to have their temperature checked when they arrive. They will also need to wear a mask.
Will students be social distancing?
- Yes. Students desks will be spaced as far apart as possible.
- Community use of classroom supplies will be avoided as much as possible. If items are ever shared, students will sanitize or wash their hands as well as the equipment/supplies.
- Group work will either be eliminated or done in very small groups with students wearing masks.
Should I send hand sanitizer?
- Parents are welcome to donate hand sanitizer at any point throughout the school year.
- Students will be using hand sanitizer every time they enter and exit the classroom.
What about drinking fountains?
- All drinking fountains have been turned off.
- Every student is expected to bring a water bottle to campus every day.
- For older students who are here for a full day, refill stations for water bottles will be available.
- When sending water bottles with your kindergartener...
