The "Parent Introduction to Spalding" course is an incredible resource for parents. There's simply no better way to learn the basics about the Spalding program and be better equipped to help students at home. This course provides an overview of The Spalding Method® so that parents and children can work together to support classroom instruction. Helping at home accelerates children's learning and enables parents to keep track of school progress. Reading is the foundation of all learning, and the first step to reading is learning that words are made of up sounds (phonograms).
The purpose of the Parent Spalding course is to provide parents with the knowledge and skills necessary to support classroom instruction of The Spalding Method®. The course will teach parents to:
1. Say and write the 70 phonograms.
2. Use the phonograms to say and write high-frequency words.
3. Apply spelling and language rules and concepts.
4. Model reading words for spelling and for reading.
