Over the past week, one of our top priorities has been choosing new leadership for the school to continue Thomas Edison’s legacy of positivity and educational excellence while helping the school community heal. On Monday, the governing board voted unanimously to approve Jamie Lewis as the new principal of Thomas Edison Charter School North Campus.
Mrs. Lewis has been a part of the Thomas Edison community since the school opened twenty years ago. She has been a parent, an elementary and middle school teacher, a governing board member, and a leader in the parent organization. She has a master’s degree in management and leadership and extensive experience teaching the Spalding Language Arts method. In 2011, Mrs. Lewis was chosen from a competitive pool of applicants to join the administrative training program as a director of instruction. For the past 11 years, Mrs. Lewis has been helping with administrative responsibilities on both campuses. Her education, experience, and most of all, her heart, make her perfectly suited to be the principal of North Campus during this difficult transition.
At Thomas Edison, we are lucky to have a team of administrative helpers who work together to support the principals on both campuses. You may find that you will be seeing them on North Campus more often as they work to support Mrs. Lewis in her new role. Our entire community will be pulling together throughout the coming year to lift and carry each other through the challenges ahead. In addition, the governing board will soon be seeking new applicants to join the administrative training program in order to provide additional support to the administrative team.
We believe that Mrs. Lewis’s appointment as principal will provide a smooth transition to new administration while maintaining the school’s unique culture and philosophy. She is well-loved by students, parents, and teachers. Rest assured that the staff, teachers, and principal at Thomas Edison Charter School will continue to nurture your children as they learn and grow in the coming years.
Sincerely,
Thomas Edison Charter Schools Governing Board
